Jobsity recently had the privilege of hosting an event titled "Unlock the Future: Artificial Intelligence in Action" for over 100 YPO members. Our CEO, Andres Garzon, is a member of this highly esteemed organization. This gathering brought together some of Latin America's most influential business leaders to explore the transformative power of AI in today’s business landscape. Embracing our core value of "Go All In," the Jobsity team organized a series of conferences with some of our clients as guest speakers.

The event featured perspectives from industry leaders, highlighting the future of AI and its practical applications across various sectors. This recap provides an overview of the sessions, featuring insights from Microsoft, Gestalt Diagnostics, Salesforce with its product Slack, and Jobsity. Each presentation emphasized the transformative potential of AI, its practical uses, and the importance of responsible development. Here are the key takeaways:

The Future from an Alternative Perspective

Presenter:  Roberto De La Mora, CTO & Customer Success Lead, Microsoft Mexico

Roberto De La Mora is a highly experienced IT professional with over 30 years in the field,  currently leading Microsoft's Solutions Adoption team in Mexico as CTO and Customer Success Lead. He presented a visionary perspective on the future of Artificial Intelligence and emphasized the company's approach to innovation through three main pillars: meaningful impact, practical application, and responsible development.

Roberto started the presentation by providing Microsoft’s perspective on innovation and the future of AI, highlighting significant advancements in the field and their ethical and practical implications. AI has reached milestones such as object recognition and language understanding at human parity, and has progressed rapidly due to groundbreaking research. He mentioned concepts such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI. He also discussed the technologies behind OpenAI's large language models (LLMs), which use techniques like Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF).

Roberto explained how these advancements have paved the way for Generative Artificial Intelligence models such as ChatGPT, DALL-E, and others. These models analyze our language and identify the relationships between ideas and words (using tokens). Because of this, they are referred to as Large Language Models (LLMs). When given a prompt, these models compare the provided words to those in their dataset, generating responses composed of words and ideas that are closely related. This process results in understandable, natural-sounding sentences and paragraphs.

He then introduced Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service: a powerful content creation tool that uses LLMs. The presentation showcased its capabilities through examples like generating taglines, writing SQL queries, and interacting with models like GPT-4, Codex, and DALL-E 2. It also explored various applications across different industries, including call center analytics, code generation, and semantic search.

However, LLMs have limitations. The quality and diversity of the training data they rely on heavily influence their performance. These models may also have a limited understanding of the real world and exhibit potential biases and hallucinations. These limitations call for careful human consideration of privacy when interacting with AI models.

Looking ahead, Roberto sees computing as ubiquitous, sustainable, and achieving breakthroughs in a matter of weeks rather than years. Human-computer interaction is set to evolve in significant ways.

How Gestalt Diagnostics Uses AI

Presenter: Roopam Kakoti, VP of Product Engineering

Roopam Kakoti, a technology leader with over 25 years of experience, shared his insights on the digital transformation of anatomic pathology laboratories. As the Vice President of Product Engineering at Gestalt Diagnostics, Roopam leads the development of groundbreaking healthcare solutions that leverage AI to revolutionize disease diagnosis and patient care.

Intelligent Work with Slack AI: A Company Owned by Salesforce

Presenters: Antonio Teixeira & Cristinne Puerto

Antonio Teixeira and Cristinne Puerto from Slack presented how their AI integration transforms communication and efficiency. Slack AI uses organizational data to improve search functions, summarize lengthy threads, and generate channel recaps, supporting a more efficient workflow.

This secure and user-friendly platform addresses common AI implementation challenges. Users benefit from a 360-degree view of their work with the integration of third-party applications like Salesforce, GitHub, and Zoom.

The presentation addressed a shocking statistic: While 81% of executives prioritize the use of AI in their operations, only 43% of employees receive proper guidance on how to use it in the workplace. Slack has the answer: they’ve created a guided AI experience to help users learn to apply the tool to their daily work. Slack AI also only has access to the enterprise data for the individual enterprise in which the employee works so data remains secure.

Studies reveal a significant productivity increase with Slack AI: Generative AI users complete tasks 12% faster and with 25% more frequency.

Slack AI transforms its search engine into a tool that finds answers to questions by combining and summarizing previous messages. It provides recaps of relevant messages addressed to you and offers context when you join ongoing threads.

Slack AI acts as a helpful assistant, delivering quick answers, navigating complex threads, and keeping users informed about team operations. It prioritizes urgent matters and highlights key channels, helping users focus on what truly matters. It can be seen as a search engine that relies solely on the data from your conversations within the Slack application.

AI Tools for Today

Presenters: Mauricio Lopez (Jobsity CTO), Miguel Obando (Developer), and Andres Garzon (Jobsity CEO)

Our final presentation was led by our organization, Jobsity. Andres Garzon, Jobsity’s CEO, Mauricio Lopez, Jobsity’s CTO, and Miguel Obando, one of Jobsity’s developers explored the practical integration and use of AI tools within the business landscape. We started by conducting a brief evaluation of the current level of AI adoption across companies.

Key focal points included the implementation of AI tools, the creation of an effective AI strategy, as well as the need for proficient AI experts within the organization. We discussed how AI is revolutionizing various sectors such as retail, transportation, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and the public sector.

Throughout the presentation, we highlighted several instrumental tools for AI productivity. These include GitHub Copilot for streamlined code writing, Sapient.ai for automated testing procedures, Scribbl for efficient meeting note-taking, and People GPT for effective candidate searching.

We then outlined practical steps for AI integration: promoting the appointment of an AI ambassador, the development of a comprehensive strategy, and the smooth implementation of AI tools across multifaceted teams. We emphasized the importance of expert guidance alongside a curated list of AI productivity tools tailored for specific departmental needs like IT, Sales, Human Resources, and Talent Acquisition.

While the enthusiasm for AI integration is clear, we issued several notes of caution. One significant concern is potential AI "hallucinations." These errors, which arise from inadequate training data, flawed assumptions, or biases, need a careful approach when using AI for critical decisions. Businesses must remain on guard to make sure all materials sourced from AI systems are reliable and accurate.

Companies must also choose their AI tools carefully. They must evaluate whether the provider is established or new, establishing the tool's longevity and viability. It's essential to determine if the AI tool includes integration capabilities and if it can be customized to meet specific needs. Assessing the tool's uptime and stability is crucial, as is ensuring adherence to data protection and compliance standards. Any business looking to adopt a new AI tool should also consider the presence of a future roadmap for the AI tool and its accuracy.

Jobsity’s “Unlock the Future: Artificial Intelligence in Action" event for the YPO members was a major success. It shed light on the immense potential of AI and how it can transform various industries. AI presents significant opportunities for businesses ready to integrate it into their operations. However, we must remain vigilant and ensure that AI tools are used responsibly, ethically, and effectively.
